Hi! My name is Julia Chen-CN, and I’m a senior in high school here in Los Angeles. After noticing my grandparents and other senior citizens around me struggle with technology and fall victim to financial scams, I decided to start Media Minds. The goal of Media Minds is to help senior citizens navigate and protect themselves within the digital world. Through workshops and educational events at public libraries across Los Angeles, myself and other teens at Media Minds teach senior citizens media literacy and how to spot scams and misinformation. We believe that media conscious education can keep senior citizens safe online, help slow the spread of misinformation, and protect seniors from falling victim to an increasing amount of scams.
